Abstract

Reflective of industrial innovations design has always been a fast paced sector. The integration of machine learning and AI, offers designers, educators and businesses an opportunity to ‘fast track’ ‘tedious’ tasks developing creative work through industry standard software such as with the new Adobe Sensei and XD. Designing faster and cheaper due to increased speed and efficiency is a favourable position for many in the industry. Yet, what are the implications for designers, educators and industry? What effects will machine learning and AI have on the design cycle and how can we develop new methodologies and frameworks to harness the potentials on offer?
